Frequently Asked Questions
The Roommate is set in the world of Cormac Reilly, and a very young Cormac plays a tiny cameo role at the end of the story, but otherwise, the answer is no. The novellas are all separate, distinct stories.
It’s fun! Mostly it’s the same, because I’m writing novellas rather than radio plays, but writing for audio does give me the opportunity to drop some attributions (he said, she said) and to cut back some explaining and leave room for the narrator to perform the moment or the emotion. And because I’m writing shorter fiction I get the opportunity to explore ideas I wouldn’t have time to play with otherwise. For example, In The Wrong One, I used some supernatural elements which brought a completely different dimension to the story.
I certainly can! I love all of the Anthony Horowitz Daniel Hawthorne books on audio (starting with The Word is Murder) and also his Susan Ryland books (staring with Magpie Murders). I also really liked Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth, and Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister.
